It wasn't long before someone made a comment about my use of song titles for blog postings - http://geekswithblogs.net/ajames/archive/2006/01/05/65035.aspx. All I can say is that I stared with the noble intention of making each song title relevant to the content contained within, but it got too hard so I just started using songs I was listening to at the time I wrote each entry. Does that make me a bad person???

Anyway, I've been reading up on the collective wisdom on how to succeed with your blog, and it looks like the number one rule is to make your blog title meaningful - oh dear, I've fallen at the first hurdle. So in true sheep mentality ("well what do ya know, I'm a follower too") I have decided to follow the crowd and give you acurate titles. However, I do know that many of you rely on my listening habits to enhance your own music pleasure :-), so I will continue to use song titles in the first line of my posts.

I've been keeping up to date with new developments in the 2007 Office System, and in particular how Excel 2007 and SharePoint 2007 are going to have a major impact on how we interact with business applications such as Microsoft CRM. We just posted a WebCast on http://channel9.msdn.com where Mike Arcuri, group program manager on the business intelligence team, shows off Excel 12's new features.

Business Intelligence in Excel 2007

I recommend you take the time to watch this, as I think Excel 2007 and Excel Services (part of SharePoint Server 2007), will have a significant impact on how we work with business applications like Microsoft CRM.

Some of you may already know that I try and watch at least one technology-related webcast each week in order to expand my horizons a little further. On the whole, I find them a useful adjunct to instructor-lead training courses, technical conferences, online articles and books, and there are no shortage of on-demand webcasts on microsoft.com. Rather than keeping all this wonderful information to myself, I thought I would post details of my recommendation for 'Webcast Of The Week" as regular feature of this blog. This is not intended to be Microsoft CRM only, although I'm sure some CRM specific webcasts will slip in from time to time, but I will try and keep it relevant to the CRM community.

To break you in gently, I've chosen a webcast that runs for just 17 minutes:

Ryan Donovan (and team) - What is Commerce Server? - Why use Commerce Server? Lots of big-name retailers do. But, what the heck is it? Now that the Christmas Shopping season is over we sit down with the team that builds the product that runs a lot of the commerce-oriented Web sites out there. Fun discussion with part of the team that makes Commerce Server.

Enjoy
