Hello Everyone

I hope you are all having a great summer?

Thanks to everyone who submitted ideas and suggestions for the NAV Resource kit over the last couple of months. Much appreciated.

V1 of the NAV Resource Kit is now available for download: https://mbs.microsoft.com/fileexchange/?fileID=2320dd81-c2e9-4388-97b4-f6b4d00b97d2

Here is a list of the highlights from this edition:

• New NAV & CRM UK VPC

• Step by step recorded demos & scripts

• ISV Demonstrators

• NAV Web Showcase (kindly provided by QEB)

• VPC best practice guides

• Futures Demos & Roadmap Documents

This is a first attempt at improving the sales and pre-sales resources for NAV. It would be great to get feedback on the things you like. Don’t rely on someone else to steer the content. If there are items that you want changed or new content you would like to see please send it through. All feedback welcome.

Technical readiness around NAV 2009 is coming more and more into focus.

I spotted this link on the Partner Source home page. Its a full 'What's New' manual for NAV 2009 focused on development and installation.

Haven't fully reviewed it yet but is well worth a look. A great starting point!

Hi there

Take a look at this link for Dynamics sound bites. Mainly CRM content but there is some NAV if you scratch about. Site is beta at the moment but has potential.

http://preview.microsoft.com/video/search.aspx?phrase=Microsoft+NAV

Found this on the web. It looks great.

Comes with free developer license.

I get loads of emails around BRL licensing.

Take a look at this doc. It provides a comprehensive overview of Microsoft Dynamics licensing

Document includes an overview of basic licensing concepts and how they are applied, licensing guidelines/rules partners need to be aware of when making a quote/placing an order, and descriptions of the various licensing options available and when to use them. The guide also covers licensing programs, licenses for partner use, and Volume Licensing SKUs on the Microsoft Dynamics price lists.

Its not available on partner source yet. Drop me an email if you would like a copy.

Once its on Partner Source i will blog the link.

Phil

Following feedback from partners and in response to a few bugs identified after launch of version 2, we now have all the necessary program updates for partners to install so that the PMA works smoothly.  All the updates are located within the home screen under check for updates.

In case you’re not familiar with the PMA... that means doing the following to complete the updates:

1. If you are running Vista, please turn off your UAC from the control panel.

2. Check for updates from the home screen of the PMA

3. Install all program and content updates

If you have any issues, please contact Louise Watkins (lbransby@microsoft.com)

If you haven’t already, now is the time to download the Dynamics NAV 2009 CTP3 Virtual PC. As you will know, one of the key features of this release is the ability to publish a web service from any Code Unit or Table in the application at the click of just a few buttons. We are asking developers in the NAV community in the UK to familiarise themselves with these new features and then to start thinking imaginatively about how we can show this functionality off to its most striking effect.

At our own internal bootcamp we, for example, published the customer table as a web service and then consumed it into an InfoPath form. This form had some basic formatting and search facilities. This would allow everyone in an organisation to always have an up to date record of their customers, whether or not they were NAV users. Pretty cool...but we started wondering what else was possible given the vast array of functionality within NAV. So here are some questions that might get your creative juices flowing:

1) What could we do with exposing transactions in a Web Service? How would this help supply chains or customer service?

2) What could be done with Jobs – aiding collaboration in a project?

3) Credit checking, exchange rates, postcodes, mapping?

4) Are there applications around SMS or RSS?

5) Vista Gadgets?

6) Amazon marketplace?

7) eBay?

Need more inspiration? Here are a few links that might help:

So what’s in it for you? Firstly, for every partner entering a Web Service submitted as a Differencing Disk to our base VPC Image, we will send out all the Dif Disks we receive. That means great demo’s. And if that isn’t enough to get you going, then there is the prize. For the most compelling, business worthy and cool Web Service application we receive the entrant will win a voucher for one day’s Classic Car Hire at a location near to them. If you are not a driver, or just don’t fancy the  experience then Microsoft will offer an alternative a prize of equal value.
