About Ray Fleming
I'm been working for 23 years in the field of education ICT - but I'm not an educationalist - never been a teacher. My perspectives on educational ICT have come from working with education institutions over the years.
It has been an amazing journey - which can be summarised as the three stages of ICT development in education:
- Learning About IT
- Learning With IT
- Learning Through IT
"Learning Through IT" is the stage where technology become invisible, and it is just natural that it supports the learning process - think about books - they are involved in the learning process, and critical to it, but we don't have to learn all about books and bookmaking in order to learn!
Three things you may not know about me:
- I've twice taken a career break to go travelling around the world with my wife/family and backpack. Last time, I wrote about it: http://www.rfleming.net
- I started life as a programmer, and the first commercial programme I wrote was a screensaver for an estate agent.
- While I was at school, I really wanted to be a chef.
