Microsoft announces collaboration with Eclipse Foundation

San Ramji, director of the Open Source Software Lab, has announced the beginnings of Microsoft's collaboration with Eclipse Foundation. The idea is to help Eclipse developer build software for Windows.

Microsoft will provide engineering support to allow Eclipse Standard Widget Toolkit (SWT) to use Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF). Such support would make it easier to Java developers to write applications that look and feel like Windows Vista. Ramji explains in his blog posting Supernova, "We’re committing to improve this technology with direct support from our engineering teams and the Open Source Software Lab, with the goal of a first-class authoring experience for Java developers."

The CardSpace team has been working with the the Higgins Project to establish a secure, interoperabel framework for use identity.

Hi -- I've been trying to get in touch with Sam Ramji. We produce the other Eclipse show, called EclipseWorld. We've worked with the Eclipse Foundation to establish a different approach - we focus on the info needs of end users in the Enterprise IT space. The show is Oct. 28-30 at the Hyatt Regency in Reston, VA. Let me know how I could contact him. Regards, Donna Esposito, Director of Events
