Robotics Studio 2008 CTP Released

I know of a few ISVs who work with robotics and are fasinated by the toolkits that are coming. So I wanted to be sure to let you know that the first community technology preview (CTP) of Robotics Developer Studio 2008 has been released. This is the third version of the robotics programming platform, previously called Microsoft Robotics Studio.

The newer version including increased runtime performance, improved security management, support for distributed language integrated queries (LINQ), support for creating applications that run on multiple DSS nodes, and many new features in the Visual Simulation Environment.

You can write code using a asynchronous, distributed approach in this version rather than the threaded model that in previous versions. And you have have your robots cooperate because they can more easily share information with each other.

Robotics Studio began in 2006 to give developers a way to write high-level robotic applications without having to write code that manipulates hundreds of different sensors.

For the rest of us, robotics gives us a look into the parallel programming techniques we'll be using in the future.
