Fun Little App - Just in Time for the Election...

Recently, I had mentioned that we were looking for ISVs to explore the XAML continuum by providing desktop versions of Surface applications.  Believe it or not, that's not as easy as it sounds, but with a little extra effort and some smart factoring, you can do so (and probably leave your app more readily adaptable to other multi-touch interfaces in the process.)

I had the good fortune to explore such a scenario with Vectorform, who built the Surface application that Chuck Todd uses on MSNBC to make his weekly predictions of how the election will go state-by-state.  In a short timespan, Vectorform was able to adapt their Surface app into a WPF desktop app by chaging the input model and adding a couple small features.

While there are literally a ton of features we'd like to add to this app, we decided to post it in its current state so you can play along at home and compare your predictions to Chuck's.  You can download it from http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/msnbc/Components/Promo/election08/NBC_Electoral_Map08_Setup.msi.

If you're so inclined, give it a shot, and let us know what features you'd like to see.  In exchange, I'll be glad to let you know which we're considering, but I'm sure it will be at least 2 years before you'll be interested in using it again after next Tuesday.  :)

Enjoy!
