VB 2008 Keyboard Shortcut Posters -- Download your copy today! (Lisa Feigenbaum)

Published 11 December 08 08:00 AM

Some of you may be using the 2005 posters we released last year. There is now a 2008 version available as well!

There aren't too many changes. We've actually tried to stay pretty consistent with the VB keybindings (going back to at least VB6), since we know there's nothing more frustrating than upgrading and finding the keystroke that used to take you to the watch window now deletes the current line. :)

However, we have added a few new keyboard shortcuts for 2008 features, so you might want to download the 2008 copy to have the latest.

Happy shortcutting!

Wow! That's great! Now all I have to do is figure out how to print it out.

I don't suppose you know if there is one for General Developer Settings, do you? I found C++, C# and VB, but none for the general developer.

Hi Chris,

Check out Sara Ford's article "Did you know… There’s a macro for listing out all the keyboard shortcuts in Visual Studio? - #370" @  http://blogs.msdn.com/saraford/archive/2008/12/03/did-you-know-there-s-a-macro-for-listing-out-all-the-keyboard-shortcuts-in-visual-studio-370.aspx

@Chris: Additionally I blogged about a couple of Cheat Sheets I've collected over time (during the glorious days when I could blog because I didn’t work on things which are that secret that I can’t even speak about them outside of DevDiv… Oh wait... na! This is much better!!! :-) Be curious for nxt year! Eventually all will be good ;-) )

Anyhow, a couple of other Cheat Sheets can be found here:

How can I print this. My printer can only accept letter or legal. I tried printing to fit but that was too hard to read.

Hello

When you use clickonce to deploy a database program, where are the database and application files installed?

Albert

# VBTeam said on January 3, 2009 4:38 PM:

hi Albert,

the database and application files are stored in the ClickOnce cache, which is a series of obfuscated folders in the user's profile directory.  for more information about how the ClickOnce cache works, see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/267k390a.aspx

Thank You Mary Lee,

I have written a database program and now I need to write a utility program to backup and restore the database. How would I do this in visual basic? What white papers can I read to help me get started? A few code snippets would be great..

Thank You

Albert

Hi Albert,

I recommend you have a look at the Visual Basic Development center here:

<a href="http://www.msdn.com/vbasic">http://www.msdn.com/vbasic</a>

Search for Beth Massi's Windows Forms Over Data video series. You can also check out her WPF over data video series too. They'll show you the basics about tying an application into a database.

I learnt so much from her...
