A little History
Education
B.S. Engineering Physics, Oregon State University, 1989 - course work included several classes in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Employment
Hired as an Hardware Support intern at Microsoft in 1989 as I was going to return to OSU for a EE degree.
Never went back to college to get my second degree and was hired full-time after my internship.
From Hardware Support I went to the Cairo team (Advanced Systems) and then the NT group where I worked on the first four versions of NT on the Build Team. I also worked on the hotfixes and service packs as we did not have a dedicated division at that time. My next venture was in a couple of multi-media groups that failed and were eventually canceled. I ended up in the developer division and helped ship Visual Studio 97, the first version of VS. After that I went to the BackOffice and Small Business Server team and created a build process for them. For the past 5 years I have been consulting to Microsoft customers on how we do builds, executing build architecture reviews, and occasionally writing a build process for the customer.
