Changing the default location the Virtual PC uses for virtual machines

A regular question I hear is "How can I stop Virtual PC from storing all of my virtual machines in the 'My Virtual Machines' folder in 'My Documents'?".  The answer is simple - but obscure.  To change this you need to create a system environment variable called 'MYVIRTUALMACHINES' with a value of the path that you want Virtual PC to use for the default location for storing virtual machines.

Cheers,
Ben

This proves that the one who can read has the advantage: this is also stated in the additional docs which are installed with the VPC SP1. ;)

Thanks - I was wondering about that.

I'm sure the question you regularly get asked once you've answered that one is...

"Can we have a setting for that under File>Options?"

I usually just create a junction point instead of messing around with config settings. Much easier. :)

Thank you very much. I've been wondering how to do that.
