WinImage converts VMDKs to VHDs

I have raved about the benefits of WinImage before but now with the latest version (8.10) it allows you to convert VMware virtual hard disks (VMDKs) to Virtual PC / Virtual Server virtual hard disks (VHDs) - which is pretty cool.

Note that it does not do any system reconfiguration - so if the VMDK is a system drive it might have problems booting under Virtual PC / Virtual Server.

You can download WinImage from here: http://www.winimage.com/download.htm

Cheers,
Ben

I've been a WinImage fan for years because I like the ability to create a .ISO image from any CD or data DVD.  There was a Windows Vista issue in the first release of the 8.x series that is now resolved.  I haven't yet tested the VM conversions, but as a registered owner of WinImage, I have something else to play with in my spare time.

Thanks for the heads up Ben!

"...if the VMDK is a system drive it might have problems booting under Virtual PC / Virtual Server."

When is a VMDK *not* going to be a system drive?

Confused - When it is a secondary data drive.

I think I'm a little confused also - aren't you more concerned about the system drive (ie. can it boot?) than any "data" drive?  It's not often that I create secondary drives.
