Hotfix to help with Shared Folder Performance of Windows XP Mode

A number of users have seen performance issues using shared folders / having shared folders enabled with Windows XP Mode on the RC release of Windows Virtual PC.  This can be addressed by installing this hotfix:

Inside the virtual machine.  Please note – this hotfix is for Windows XP and is installed inside the virtual machine, not in the host operating system.

Unfortunately this hotfix did not work for me. The shared folders on the Windows 7 (ultimate) host machine are still incredibly slow when I try to access them from Windows Virtual PC.

When I access shared folders on my old Vista machine, the performance is actually pretty good. The issue seems to be only when accessing shares on the Host.

This hotfix did not work for me.

I've noticed that it depends on network interface of the host.

In my case, it was "Marvell Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E Gigabit"

I use shares mapped with "net use".

Writing is fast, but reading is so slow (about 20kb/sec)

With process monitor, i can see that every Read call takes about 3 seconds (for 60 k of data)

I've switched to another network interface (Marvell Yukon 88E8001/8003/8010 PCI Gigabit) and problem went away.

Still I'd like to know what is wrong with original setup.

Lovely, the fix worked great for me.

It is way faster, though I'd expect things to go even better.
