Updated! - Service Notice: New Map Control - November 6, 2006

Please be advised that we will release a new version of the Virtual Earth Map Control on Monday, November 6th 2006.  We do not anticipate that this release will impact the service or uptime of the existing Virtual Earth Map Controls (http://dev.virtualearth.net/standard/v2/MapControl.js or http://dev.virtualearth.net/mapcontrol/v3/MapControl.js). With this release Virtual Earth customers should not need to take any action to ensure that their existing Virtual Earth applications continue to function properly. However, we want to give our Virtual Earth customers advance notice of this upcoming release.

Due to an upcoming marketing campaign surrounding this release we cannot elaborate on the exciting new features that will be in the release.  We will announce the features and details of this release on the launch date (November 6th).  Please stay tuned to this blog for additional details.

PS:  As always please be certain that you are referencing the Microsoft-hosted mapcontrol.js on http://dev.virtualearth.net, as shown in the SDK, and not the veapi.ashx on live.com.

Update 1:  The release has been moved up a few hours and as a result will occur mid to late day November 6th.
