Microsoft pushed Virtualization
We are always our first and best customer for our own products. Microsoft pushed Virtualization even inhouse as the Computerworld published in its Q&A with Devin Murray, group manager within Microsoft’s utility services group: "In a recent interview with Computerworld, Murray explained some of the steps he's taking as part of his strategy to boost capacity utilization rates, which centers around a new server-purchasing notion he calls RightSizing as well as liberal use of virtualization technology."
The Q&A with Devin - he's in charge of our worldwide hardware purchases - is quite a good read. Devin is responsible for Microsoft's "... 260,000 computers, which are spread throughout 550 buildings in 98 countries."
