VFP9 Ships! (by yag)

Published 17 December 04 03:19 PM

I know lots of the folks on the team have already mentioned it - or mentioned that we're really close to shipping. I just wanted to publicly add my congratulations to everyone on the all the teams that helped to ship VFP9, and to our customers who spent time working on the beta and giving us feedback.

For those of you wondering how to get this version of VFP9, I quote:

Visual FoxPro 9.0 becomes available for MSDN Subscribers in late December 2004 via MSDN Subscriber Downloads. Visual FoxPro 9.0 full and upgrade versions will be available approximately February 2005 and can currently be pre-ordered at FoxToolbox.com.

Best comment about us shipping: "I was wondering what to get my wife for the holidays... now I know." <g>

Happy holidays to everyone.

Just to clarify: Even though I know Jim Eddins (from foxToolbox) as a very helpful guy, it would be really great, if Microsoft would keep at least some independence. There are still a lot of other distributors around who of course stil sell VFP. But with such prominent misinformation and preferential treatment of one single company, you just kill the last VFP supporters.

Almost every Distributor takes preorders, not only FoxToolbox. For example, if you're loacated around Germany, you can of course preorder also at www.FoxShop.de and several other sources.

Woody, I did not know about this until now and you could have let me know before now. I'll create a blog entry with this information and also add it on msdn.com in January.

Hey! Happy New Year everyone!

Any information on VSS 2005 and VFP9? Looks like VSS is going through some major changes and I'm hoping the VFP team is going along for the ride!

Regards.

We continue to be SCC compliant. We can't guaranty that a shipping product (VFP9) will work with a product not yet shipping (the new VSS) since we can't test them together. However, since they continue to support the SCC API, we should be fine.
