Q&A: Controlling the Actions Pane Stack Order with a Flow Layout Panel Control
Q: A customer asks...in your video (Video Tutorial: How to Change Controls on the Actions Pane) I noticed that the stack order doesn't change automatically when switching from horizontal to vertical orientation of the actions pane. You controlled this by writing code to detect the change in orientation and then changing the stack order for the controls. Is this any better (or worse) than hosting the controls within a flow layout panel control?
A: One of the developers on the Visual Studio Tools for Office team replies...it would be about the same because you’d have to change the flow layout of the panel when the actions pane orientation changes instead of changing the stack order of the actions pane when the orientation changes. It’s the same amount of code either way. The actions pane is basically just a flow layout panel.
