Results of Feedback on the Security Section

Last September I posted a blog entry titled, “Confusion over the Security Section.” I asked for feedback on whether the “Security” section at the bottom of the How to procedure and Walkthrough topics is confusing. Your feedback was consistent. Everyone who responded indicated that the name “Security” is not the best choice for that section. Also its location at the bottom of the topic makes it unlikely to be read before one is following the steps in the procedure.

Based on your feedback we are revising the security section in all of the Team Foundation procedural topics as follows.

  1. We are renaming the section to “Required Permissions.”
  2. We are moving the section to the top of the topic above the procedure.

These changes will make it clearer that the section identifies the permissions you need before you can work through the procedure in the topic. These changes will appear in an online update in the next few months.

Thank you everyone who sent us feedback. Your feedback is very useful and gives us clear guidance for making continuous improvements in the documentation.

Thanks!
