Results from the 2008 WDK Documentation Survey

The 2008 WDK doc survey ended on October 3.  Thanks to the 357 respondents for taking the time to share your thoughts with us.  As promised, here are a few quick results.

  • Of the 357 respondents, only 28 said that the WDK docs has gotten worse since they started writing Windows drivers.
  • Respondents use the WDK documentation online and offline about equally.
  • Only 15 respondents said that sample quality has gotten worse since they started writing Windows drivers.
  • Roughly half the respondents are non-native English speakers.
  • English-only documentation is preferred strongly over machine translation or human translation.  If you are interested in machine translation, keep in mind that you can have this experience today by visiting http://translator.live.com.

Areas we’ve identified for reinvestment include the Kernel-Mode Driver Architecture node as well as Reference sections across all technologies.
