(although I hope there are more clustered indexed with data compression than heaps). &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I'm not sure if the TABLOCK is required with bulk inserts, but I remember reading that &amp;quot;INSERT INTO tbl WITH (TABLOCK)&amp;quot; also makes page compression work in heaps.&lt;/p&gt;
