I'm not sure if this is in the vein that you are looking for since I think it's an ActiveSync issue but here it is anyways...

I'd love to be able to set the "Copy messages from the last N days" setting on a per folder basis. I have a travel folder that I stick all of my flight time confirmations, hotel reservations and so on in. I really need for that to stick around for 90 days while the inbox could be set at 3 days.

If this is not your area, please let me know who I can pass this on to so that they know that this is a requested feature.

Another thought: I'd love to have an add-on API accessable from .NET so that I could write add-ons for the PPC that work NewsGator, Lookout, Plaxo and the other add-ins that I have on my desktop.

About the folders, we'd have to work with ActiveSync for that, yes. But that also falls into my team -- we work together closely on this stuff. I'll make sure it gets heard.

As for .NET add ons ... I feel your pain! I'd like to be able to do this as well. Upcoming versions of .NET should make this possible for us to do; right now, native code is the only solution. But this support is HIGH on my list.

How about making Inbox able to support flexible event triggers (WS-Eventing).

That would be a cool extension to having standard feed (RSS/ATOM) supported.

Starting with the baisc functions of the inbox, it would be nice if unread messages were automatically displayed when entering the inbox as its annoying having to look through the inbox which has lots of messages to find unread ones. Also deleting all messages at once, or deleating all from one contact would be nice. On that note a message achive would be usefull, as would a way to hide or delete all messages older than a set period.

My group helpfully pointed out that although we don't have it for ActiveSync yet, you can in fact do what you want in an IMAP account. So if all you're after is the feature and you don't care how you get your mail, this is an option.

Support for Gmail is critical for me. It is, in fact, the only thing that would be holding me back from buying a Windows Mobile device when it's time to get rid of my trusty T610.

Simple rule processing would be good!

I would like to see a setting where you can set delivery receipts to default like on most phones (Including Nokia 3210).

From an Orange SPV E200 user in the UK on Orange.

After moving from a nokia 7650 to an i-mate smartphone there is one feature in the nokia inbox i miss: the delevery reports. i know smartphone 2003 has delevery reports, but there actual text messages. the 7650 when it got a report just displayed a message, much like the message sent on the smartphone. it displayed for about 5 seconds, which in some cases was not long enough to get the phone out of the pocket and see who just got delevered, but in other cases, just enough. a nice feature would be that but with the ok button like the message sent display, and the ability to show it for 10 seconds or click ok to just not show it. also, insted of showing the number it was delevered to, show the name. the nokia did that. that would be sweet! ohh and yes to RSS/Atom support and definalty yes to the httpmail. when it comes to htmlmail, its a maybe because it could help spammers, or cause large GPRS bills.

For me like many HTTP and HTML are a must have addition to the inbox to make it far more usable. RSS would be a fab addition though.

On Smartphone..some basic options.

1. Ability to save attachments or mail to SD. I get 300+ mails a day and I need the inbox to save attachments to SD or other type of memory.
The Pocket PC does this...how come Smartphone does not?

2. Ability to change font size. Font on Smarphone inbox is too big, can probably fit more messages on one screen....or the ability to see only mail subject...thus being able to fit more on screen.

3. Ability to read HTML mail.

4. Ability to delete all mails.

Simple rules processing - good idea, but I'd like to take it a step further and be able to import my rules from my desktop. Obviously, not all of them would apply, so a wizard that would let me pick the ones that I want to port over.

On the RSS/Atom integration - I'm not sure that I would set that as a priority. If you have an add-on API, I'm sure that NewsGator would supply an add-in for RSS in fairly short order. I'm not sure what it would say about Outlook to have the PPC and SmartPhone version doing things that the desktop version doesn't do.

Also, I agree with NYC567user on the HTML Mail, deleting Mails and so on.

As for the seeing just unread mail - (big blue sky) I'd like search folders like Outlook 2003 where I can set up filters for a specific email address, unread mail, priority mails and so on.

Please .... access via activesync to public folders - extended to not just inbox but also Contacts, Calender.

Just download nPop and learn from it. It's twice better than Inbox. But... still not perfect. Like Inbox you can't access Hotmail and Gmail. And you have set an external viewer to see html emails (but at least there is a workaournd).

Another vote for desktop rules import and public folders.

I'd love to see...

1) Spam filtering capabilities added either: directly to Inbox itself or via a 3rd party plug-in.

2) A special top level "unread items" folder listing all unread (shock horror) messages from all accounts. Underneath that would be similar folders but for each individual account.

3) The ability to select multiple messages one at a time i.e. CTRL + click functionality in Windows.

More than anything else, I'd like to just be able to use e-mail on my Pocket PC. I regularly sync with 2 desktop systems and cannot use e-mail on my Pocket PC (iPaq 3875 upgraded to Windows Mobil 2003). I also want to be able to choose which set of e-mails I can work with on my Pocket PC rather than just get all the e-mail from both systems.

I would love to see the following:
1. Ability to select certain folders from outlook be synched with certain folders on pda
2. Columns for all header info (from,date,size,attachment icon,etc), and the ability to select which columns to display and drag and drop ordering for the columns
3. Ability to select a font and size
4. Text wrap on/off
5. Ability to link a task or appointment to a email for quick reference without having to search for it
6. Importance/Priority
7. Ability to label or color code messages
8. Filters to limit what emails are actually loaded onto pda.

Gmail support, please. That's critical for me.

RSS/Atom support would be fantastic, but please don't dump all new messages into the same inbox, like Inbox on Smartphone 2002 does with SMS and email messages. RSS needs to have a seperate folder structure, like NewsGator does in Outlook on the desktop.

1) Let me move my mail from one service to another!
2) Let me reply via a different service than I received the message with.

These would be huge.

I would like to have the ability to sync mails / messages from other services / accounts (like SMS) through activesync.

I would like to have the ability to send an SMS from a missed called number. An also the ability to send business card using SMS in addition to bluetooth and IR transfer. Nokia has these features for a long time !!

OK... some smartphone ones from me...

1. Ability to flag for follow up against exchange store
2. Ability to send multiple attachements from smartphone
3. Ability to include attendees when creating appointments

HTTPMail and support for HTML. RSS and support for NNTP (such as the way it's handled in Outlook Express) would be nice.

I really like Exchange's AUTD but there is no way to control the service apart from what the user states in the UI.

I'd like to have something like 'send a notification when a message matches a rule' and 'include n lines if the message in an SMS'. Maybe there is no need to syncronize the whole inbox (unless the user opts for it), but having the option to have an SMS notification (visible to the user) would be very useful.

If I press snooze on a reminder on the Pocket PC and then sync the machine with my desktop the snooze setting is lost. It would be nice if those settings were preserved and transmitted via ActiveSync.

Syncronize multiple "Inboxes" with activesync, I have one account in my job, that I manage in the job's machine; and I have my personals accounts in my home's computer. So, the ActiveSync let me sync just one of that.

I want to have various Inboxes on my PDA.

I love seeing that we have an international audience. Since I'm limited to English and a little French, I had to have Google translate this website for me. It came up with "Tray of Entrance" for the name of our Inbox application! We're getting a real kick out of that here at Messaging Central.

I would really adore if it could work with Exchange servers, you mentioned that it does work but I have never been able to make it work, nor found the option either.

It would also be great to have the Sent items folder and to have the replied forward icons!!

Can you expand on the "working with Exchange servers" comment? We do have the ability to do a direct sync to the server.

I think (from what I recall) that it won't work with an Exchange server "out of the box" That you need to have the admin do a bunch of setup (don't recall haven't tried). Ideally you would simply specify your exchange server, userid/password and it would sync. Just like that. I don't think it's so "just like that" now.

I mean, for example in my company I synchronize my e-mail with our Exchange server. I am able to configure outlook in the pc to do that but I am not able to configure all the data in the inbox of my ipaq(WMobile 03). When I want to create an account, I cannot go further because mine is not a pop or Imap, and i did not get it to recognize hosts and lmhosts files either.
So I can synchronize with Outlook in the pc using Activesync, but I cannot send and receive using the ppc on its own.
If there is a way, please tell me, it seems for me rather strange that a Microsoft OS cannot work with a Microsoft e-mail program...

I would like to see separate SMTP authentication and the ability to change the SMTP port number.

You can specify the port number today, just include :portnum after the address. For example smtp.consoto.com:2020.

It would be very nice to have the possibility to select where I want my messages stored, I own an iPAQ 2215 and I have to use a third party app because the inbox sends the mailboxes to the iPAQ File Store whe nasked to send them to the storage card. The Free npopw app is not as stylish as the inbox but it does the mailbox redirection very good.

I know this is blaspheme, but how about the ability to sync with something besides Outlook? I'd like to use Thunderbird for email, contacts, etc.

Don't know if its too late to get on the bandwagon, but I have a few thoughts of things I'd really like.

In outlook you can group by subject and have it be a collapsable structure that you can look to see similar topics then read those. I would love to be able to do that, as its hugely useful when synchronizing with technical mailing lists that generate a lot of throughput.

For Activesync upgrades for inbox, following on the thought of having per folder inbox N days synching, I would love to be able to just download unread mail in specific folders. If it could actually use the outlook rules wizard to figure out what to synch so that I can put even more sophistication into what I download I'd love that even more. Also the ability uncheck base folders such as inbox and drafts so that these aren't automatically downloaded would be great.

In general where possible I'd like it to be closer to capability to outlook with mail or at least outlook express.

Of course it isn't too late. What you describe above is what we tend to call "conversation view" ...

IMporting my defined rules from my desktop outlook client is critical!!!! I had qteck smartphone and returned it because this feature was not availible in pocket inbox

I am forced to subscribe to a range of distribution lists and have to manage spam at the client level so I cannot use email without this feature

Also it would be great if one could send and recieve mail from the outlook email accaount over the air as opposed to having to set up a seperate account

How about adding Public Folder Functionality? The ability to sync Public folders over the web like we're able to do using Exchange ActiveSync for the Inbox.

I'd like to see the ability to alter the port numbers for IMAP4, POP3, and SMTP.

I've found a registry change to alter the port number for IMAP4 and POP3, but it didn't work (Windows Mobile 2003 - iPAQ 2215).

A simple entry in the service configuration for these would be useful for many.

I and my company would like to see pocket pc and windows 2003 exchange able to sync up and exchange information as to the status of your messages. IE. when you have read a message on your pcc and you move it to a different folder on your pcc, then when you sync up it syncs up and shows that it has not been read on the pc.

How about IMAP support? No, broken IMAP support doesn't count. I am well aware that MS does not want to support IMAP, but why pretend? There is no need to go over all the ways that MS does not support IMAP. Just read same basic primers on IMAP programming if you want to make it work.

If you don't wish to make IMAP work properly, at the very least allow pocket messaging to save sent items to the local sent folder like it does on the desktop outlook, rather than just making the sent item disappear.

I know this is a religious topic, but to show there are windows users with alternatives, could there be support for thunderbird? Contacts, email, etc?

When I am synchronizing my 'Sent Items' folder, I would like to be able to see who I sent the message to, and not who sent it (which is myself of course :)

Here's a simple one that has seemed SO obvious to me for a long time.

Allow the user to configure Pocket Inbox to store ALL mail data (not just attachments) on a storage card. In a day and age when 1GB SD cards are dirt cheap, there is no reason in the world why I shouldn't be able to keep many, many months' worth of emails with me without fear of them eating up precious onboard memory (which I'd rather preserve for running programs).

I know there is an undocumented registry tweak that does something similar for Pocket IE (storing all cached pages, cookies, history, etc. on a card). Shouldn't Pocket Inbox be able to do something similar?

I have two seperate Exchange accounts in two seperate networks.
One at my own company, one at the company where I work as consultant. I would like to sync both into one calendar whenever I plug in my PDA at one of both locations, so that my entries where I am absent in the one calendar are present in the other one and the other way round. Of course then I won't have any way to make an entry where I am really absent from both companies but this would require some new choices in Outlook...
Anyway the worst problem is, that syncing with both accounts often messes up my the invited contacts of my appointments. This makes it currently unusable to sync with both calendars.

I hope I expressed myself understandable enough...

Have Treo 700w running Windows Mobile 5. Would love to get Gmail working in Outlook. A slick little gmail button right on the Desktop, right next to the MSN/Hotmail logo. When you login via the device <from browser or client> the Outlook client syncs up with your desktop. I think the gmail issue is the use of port 465, there is no obvious user-level means to change ports on the WM5 Outlook Client. I'm sure that much is simple, a little logo and a sync tool, that would be perfect. Just bypass activesync all together with good POP3 protocols and a little work getting the sync stuff working.

I've got the same issue with syncing with two Exchange servers. I have one with school and one at work. I'd like to have one single calendar so both my classmates and my work colleagues see the same calendar. It's bad enough that Outlook doesn't support multiple Exchange servers (but supports multiple POP servers). Any ideas on how to do this today? I think you can kind of do it via Plaxo, right?

Im using an MDA 3 compact [HTC charmer]....

I want to be able to sync the drafts email folder. So when I compose an email on my handset I can save it in my drafts and then send it from my laptop when they sync.

This is simple and is intended so i can be far more efficient in my workflow. I often want to write emails on the go, most of the time i should be emailing someone, but most of these emails arent urgent enough to warrant the expense of using my gprs account. It would be far more efficient for both my worfklow and communications expenses to operate in this manner.

Unfortunately this is not the case.

I have also tried moving the draft emails on my handset to a subfolder in my inbox, which is marked for synchronisation. Unfortunately the email synchronisation seems to only work in one direction, as does the sent box, as I have also tried to move the drafts into this folder for synchronisation.

Presently the only method I have to operate my work and communication flow in a manner akin to my wishes is to write my email content in notes and then cut and paste the body into a new email following synchronisation. This works to an extent but I am highly aware of the wasted time in not being able to just open a fully composed email in my synched drafts box, addressed from my contacts, titled etc and just click send....

Some may call me a skin-flint, but I say to those, it's all well and fair being flash, and wasting time and money, but in consideration of everything from business efficiency to the greater global context of resource and environmental management... you who may mock you are fools......

so I would ask you in your fervour for developing new methods to engage multiple servers and accounts across multiple formats, in all these developements....
CAN YOU PLEASE INCLUDE SYNCHING OF DRAFTS?

The ability to delete POP3 messages off the server would be GREAT!

While the messaging client is supposed to handle ports using the my.server.com:<port#> format, it doesn't actually work on my HP iPAQ rx3115 running Windows Mobile 2003.

Many ISPs are blocking port 25 now, so this is becoming a critical issue.

I need a fix ASAP!

I use search folders a lot on Outlook 2003.  I'd like to be able to sync those down to PPC.
The folders themselves would be read-only (ie, I couldn't unfile from the search folder), but I would be able to change the message metadata (ie clear a flag).

I would like to be able to sync my TXT's ( text messages) and MMS's from my Jasjar to Outlook on my PC (retaining correspondance in my bussiness is vital).  

I'd also like to be able to compose TXT's & MMS's in OUTLOOK on MY PC and then send them via activesync while connected to my Jasjar.

It'd be really nice if folders, such as the "Sent" and "Deleted Items" folders could be configured. For example, I use a Cyrus IMAP server which for reasons I don't fully understand requires that all folders be subfolders of the Inbox. So my Sent folder is actually "INBOX.Sent" and my Deleted Items folder is actually INBOX.Trash. Because the Outlook on my phone insits on using its own folders, anything I do on the phone (such as sending mail or deleting junk) does not sync to my server. This makes the phone useless for anything other than checking email.

Something must have happened with a message I stored in the text message drafts folder, because if I try to open it to read the 6 messages it indicates I have in it my Tero 700 hangs. Actually just the mail hangs, I'm able to go into settings->memory->running programs and kill it.
I look around the system folders to try and find the actually files to delete them but I could not find them.
I tried clearing the text messages, but it only cleared the inbox, sent and deleted folders.
What options do I have?

I have the HTC Tornado (T-Mobile SDA) running Windows Mobile 5.0. As a consultant I have one or more exchange accounts that I need to monitor, but only one account/server is allowed.

I'm not necessarily looking for a merge of calendars, unless the logic effectively isolates the data on the back end--so as not to schedule appts with the wrong account and such.

In the meantime, I'll look for other solutions. Right now I sync with hotmail, 3 pop3 accounts, and 1 of 2 Exchange accounts.

I am on a WM5 device and I would love to be able to control how often Pocket MSN checks my Hotmail account.  Right now it seems like it is completely random and sometime I go days without getting a new mail notification from this account, while my gmail account works perfectly.

Why does MS not support IMAP on WM5?? I couldn't get my sent messages saved in the sent items... Isn't this a bug????

hi, one important tool missing from the ppc OS (windows mobile) is the ability to send one SMS to multiple phone numbers (list of numbers in contacts).

also sending a business card using sms message, this option is already built-in many phones.

Mahmoud - I don't know what version of Windows Mobile you are using right now, but I've seen the ability to send an SMS to multiple phone numbers in WM5 on the HTC Faraday, UTStarcom XV6700, Treo 700w just fine, just separate the entries by a ; just like in regular outlook.

Sending a contact would be an interesting feature but due to the 160 character limitation on most SMS messages it would probably be near-useless for regular contacts in WM5 that can have many fields making the message greater that 160 characters.

IMAP save sent items doesn't seem to work with MS Exchange server (version 2000 in my case). The Sent mail syncs with messages sent from the desktop but the message sent from the device never go in there.

I also sync with an IMAP server running the Univ Wash IMAP server, sent items works fine on that server.

Need to be able to specify mail ROOT on the IMAP server. Otherwise it tries to download the whole user home directory on some IMAP servers (ie UW).


Implement SMS sync request for IMAP, POP etc. Just add to the config for each mailbox a special string that went received via SMS calls on that account to sync.  SAVES BATTERIES!! Very simple.

I would like for WM5 to support Direct Push from multiple Exchange Server accounts, just as it does for multiple POP3 accounts.  Does anyone know of a way that I can setup my K-JAM to receive Direct Push updates from both a personal and corporate Exchange server? Thanks.

Dave, top of my list (and the reason I found your blog) would be the ability to synch appointments and contacts at two PCs that are connected to two different Exchange servers.  One is in my home office, the other is at my favourite client where I spend maybe 70% of my time.  I don't know if it's meant to be supported in the current software, but I know it doesn't work reliably.

I would love to be able to sync with my desktop, but also be able to send and receive via pop3/smtp when I'm away from the desk.

I can do that now but it requires 2 accounts, one for the active sync outlook emails and another for pop3.  The problem for me is that any sent emails on the ppc won't sync, and I have to constantly maintain 2 copies of new emails and mark them as read twice, delete them twice etc...

This should definitely be one of the top things on the list for enhancements. Why isn't this already available especially since multiple POP3/IMAP accounts are possible?

Also, the ability to configure HTTP mail providers would be great (Hotmail, Yahoo etc).

I have a pocket pc device.  I do consulting work on the side and have an exchange server set up for my personal "consulting" email.  I have this set to sync OTA (over the air) to my pocket pc.  While at my day job I sync my pocket pc to my desktop.  

Active Sync will only allow me to sync my inbox and contacts to the same setting (either exchange or desktop) and will not let me split them.

I would love to be able to sync my contacts, inbox, notes, etc. to both my exchange system at home and my desktop; as well as remember where (which service) the email came from so that replys work.

Another service or feature I would love to see is the ability for active syn on my work desktop to forward my email as it arrives to an outside service so that I can still get my corporate email while on vacation; since my company will never allow OTA sync...

I find it very disappointing that Windows Mobile5 Outlook does not allow you to delete emails off the server whether you’re using POP or IMAP.  For the power user such as myself that is trying to become less dependent on my laptop, I find myself having to duplicate the measure of deleting a hundred or so emails twice a day since deleting them from my 700w gets them off the phone, but when I get home in the after noon I have to do it all over again.  What in the world were you thinking when you didn’t allow the remove of emails?  If you’re worried that some newbie might cry because they lost that important email, then put it as an option for safety reasons.  To complicate matters, I tried using FlexMail and ProfiMail, but they are too slow and don’t interact with Outlook very well… This leaves me no alternative but to trade in my W for the new P unless there is a registry hack or some other voodoo work I can perform to accomplish my goal.

Where the heck on the phone are txt/mms/e-mail stored?  I couldn't find it.  Also, how do you change the default behaivour so that all the above are stored to a memory card rather than the phones memory?

Take a look at the Palm programs from dataViz (www.dataviz.com) (Documents To Go Total Office), this is a great e-mail client that does much more than the WM client does, i'd like everything that that does (like I used to have on the Palm platform)

I have windows mobile 5, configured to sync my emails from outlook, during the day I download my emails using a pop3 account config on my MDA Vario.
I would like to be able to sync my sent items from my MDA with outlook when I use Active Sync.
Is this not possible or am I issing something.

just got a windows mobile device, and connect to my imap servers which is the same for our hosting customers.  Would be nice if when I delete a piece of mail from my device that the piece of mail gets deleted from the server.  Don't want to see the same spam twice.

On my Nokia device a SMS that couldn't be delivered would automatically be retried. On WM5 it just is moved to Drafts and I have to resend manually. The Nokia feature was really nice and I miss it...

How about some basics:

    First off, just to let you know, I think its great that you're taking feedback this way.

One feature (which BB has) is the ability to consolidate all your mail folders into 1 view. Ie, I could see all mail from all my subfolders (or SMS) as a single view. Right now, even though I can sync multiple folders, I have to go to each one individually. Also, right now, my phone won't notify me unless I get mail in the "inbox." To get around this, I changed my exchange filters to run locally in outlook (instead of exchange) -- that way, the phone sees it as being in the inbox (and I get my unified view and notifications on new mail), but that shouldn't be neccessary.

Also, I don't know if this is part of your pervue, but when I sync contacts, it doesn't sync any contact subfolders. I use subfolders for my personal contacts(vs work contacts). The reason that I don't just use categories to seperate them is because I only want Plaxo to sync my personal contacts, and not my work ones.

I would like to be able to delete my yahoo mails from my WM5 client. I've had a Yahoo email since there was a Yahoo.

Someone needs to ridicule them for that stupid forever-broken POP3 options link on there mail options screen!!!

Being able to delete my yahoo emails would be nice. I think Yahoo has purposely disabled some POP3 functionality so that we have to log in and see the ads, etc. There is a windows app out there that pretends to be the normal yahoo email user and then presents a local POP3 server so that other email clients can have full POP3 functionality.

I also think it is a great idea to ask the customers whet they need/want in their devices.

I do a lot of SMS in my field. Important dates, and other information are sent between co-workers and clients. It would be a huge benefit to be able to sync my SMS's with my Outlook on my PC.

Usually what I do is that I copy my SMS's to Pocket Word, then sync to my PC and save it in .txt or Word file. This is a big hassle and its hard to organize.

Yes, being able to sync SMS's just like e-mails would increase productivity and quality.

I also would love to have the ability to define the font size in Pocket Inbox. I've just moved from a WM5 pda to a WM5 smartphone, and am really missing the ability to change the system font size and have it affect my inbox.

My Christmas wish-list is below.

But first you should know that for me, and I suspect for most professionals out there, WM is about mobile Outlook. Picsel Viewer lets us read Word and Excel files, and nobody is going to try to actually work on Word docs or Excel spreadsheets on a handset, and frankly if they have the time for it then they are not being serious. So WM is about mobile Outlook -- E-mail, Calendar, and Contacts. Which means SmartPhone needs to do the job -- I don't want a Pocket PC.

I'd like to see the following in SmartPhone:

- Like many others here, I'd like to be able to have multiple Exchange mailboxes on my device, from either the same or different Exchange servers.

- I'd like to be able to get any Public Folder on my device. Yes that could be a huge amount of volume, but that's my problem. I'd like to be able to do it; sometimes it would be a good thing to be able to do.

- GAL lookup is now done. Big step forward. Now I want to be able to open other users' folders, Calendars for example, just like in desktop Outlook.

- Calendar functionality needs to be completed -- sending invitations, accepting invitations tentatively, accepting with remarks, etc. all need to be there.

In short, mobile Outlook should be just as good as desktop Outlook. Nothing else matters in comparison...

As other people have said wm5 is all about outlook and getting mail and the calendar on the move.

The calendar is not too bad, but wm5 email viewer leaves a lot to be desired.

1) how about unread email filter

2) view panel

3) filers

4) search facility

and these are just my top requirements, as somebody else has said on here wm5 outlook should be the same as the desk top version, 3rd parties can get close (but I am sorry to say can not cope with exchage email (yet)), so why can MS itself not do so.

1) An ability to prioritize email that comes in on  any criteria, and have the different priority levels have different notification settings. (ie: I get an email from Operations Manager or my boss in the middle of the night, it rings on a loud setting, but if I get a random email from someone not in my contacts it stays silent)

2) Kill the wrap-around on the inbox, nothing is more frustrating then using the side-wheel to scroll up to the top of your inbox only to have it wraparound to the bottom.

3)  Add some sort of hot-keys (of if there are hotkeys, document them a little bit better! :P)  ie: C to compose a new email, T to move to the top of your inbox, R for reply, etc etc)

I would like to simply look at messages from my POP server on my handheld WITHOUT deleting them on the POP server after reading them. Instead, my laptop Outlook app downloads the emails and deletes them off the server. My T-Mobile DASH with Windows Mobile 5.0 messaging I have tried to find a "leave message on POP server option" (like Outlook has) with no avail. simply want the same option outlook has on my XP OS in the mobile format.

I have rules setup for my Win Mobile 5 smart phone, but I am only notified when a message comes into my inbox and is not routed to a rules folder. I really want to be notified if any email comes in. If there is a way to do this please send me a response.

We desperately need to be able sync email with thunderbird

I feel there is a need to allow users to syncronize the appointments, calendars , tasks on to the storage/memory card rather than to the phone/device memory.

I have 8000 odd contacts which only keeps increasing.And seems like WM5 takes a lot on the device memory concerning these PIM's.

Highly appreaciate you to find a way to sync them onto a memory card.

One thing I can use is an SMS Trigger, where the phone can be triggered to dial out using Modem / GPRS etc, when perticular message is received.

I have an custom mail monitoring service set up for myself, which monitors my Inbox(s) and sends me an SMS with Details like from, sub, size, datetime, serial no, importance for the rules set in my ASPX service

Then if i want i download the emails to my handheld.

The trigger ideally should be able to dialout do send receive and disconnect, saving battery and gprs costs.

True, it could be misused, but can be controlled via the mail app using action rules

I work for a company that allows access to email via webmail on a computer, but has disabled access via internet explorer on a wm5 handheld.  Basically they want everyone to use the officially supported blackberry server, which has limited seat licsences.

So, I want to be able to access my email on my wm5 device (Tmobile Dash) without going through blackberry server, and around the block.

Not sure if you're still monitoring this, but allowing separate encryption settings for SMTP and IMAP/POP would save a lot of hassle.  At the moment, I can only specify "Use SSL" for IMAP and SMTP together, or not at all, while the setup I have to deal with encrypts SMTP, but not IMAP.  Outlook allows them to be set individually.

Oh, and another vote for backup/sync of SMS, or moving them to the Storage Card.  I realise that might be hard, so even documenting precisely where SMS, Calendar and Contacts are stored would be great (I can guess, but that's not good enough for a backup).

Also unsure whether this is still monitored, but I wanted to add my voice to requesting the implementation of fully supported IMAP namespaces, as the current position of "reconfigure your server" is just not possible in a lot of cases.
