----------------------------------------

This is related to a significant issue with the windows mobile devices battery power. The close (x) button minimizes the applications but doesn't close them. The OS memory management does a decent (but not great) job of memory management. BUT did the coders/designers think about the BATTERY LIFE in addition to the memory management ?

My PPC-6700 battery dies about twice as fast if I don't close all running (in background) programs before I put the device in my holster. It is a major pain to remember to close everything after using the phone because some apps actually talk to network and suck up the battery power FAST!!

There are a number of safeguards in place to prevent this - but it remains possible.

The complete solution is to implement some redirect technology documented here: http://blogs.msdn.com/hopperx/archive/2006/02/01/522434.aspx . This solution has the added benefit of being able to program devices to call _other_ devices under test, increasing your coverage. Thanks and good luck!

I also made the customizations to my app to not get closed by the OK or X button. That also works fine.

But I have a little problem: I see hoper working for minutes or hours without problems. But it happens, that somehow my debugger "looses" connection to the app. The output writes "The program '[d6d8dd6a] xxxx.exe' has exited with code 3 (0x3)".

So somehow my program got shut down. But I don't know how. I made VS debugger catch all Exceptions, so I would think that no Exception occurred. But the return code "3" shows that it seems to be no normal shut down of the app, so there may be a bug in my application.

Does anyone have an idea how I could address that issue? I don't know where to look.

Any help appreciated

Maik
