We're simultaneously fresh and exhausted from the first public release of Windows Live for Windows Mobile (visit http://wl.windowsmobile.com on your mobile browser) aimed at users who do not already have this on their device.
For example why can't you make a version available which includes messenger too.

I would much rather use that than a 3rd party IM program.

It acts a bit funny when you switch your smartphone off and on (tries to connect before I entered my pin, so I'll sure get an error after switching the phone on), and of course I'd love to get calendar syncing, but otherwise its great!

Microsoft must do a messenger to all devices that run Windows mobile, and to leave at the operator the possibility to unstill they version, if they want to support it in their phones.

I hope that windows mobile 7, resolve this issue, because now it's an enreasonable chose.

Yeah, WM is an awesome platform, with a lot of flexibility, however that is causing problems. Especially with each carrier nerfing the devices/software in order to sell extra services. This results in so many different software and hardware configurations that not every device will run software the same. This is especially frustration for software developers, who often have to double check whether everything looks and functions the same on all these different devices.

Perhaps something can be done at the operating system level to make this easier, or maybe it has to happen at the licensing level, but something must be done.

Replace "need" with "must"! There are five well defined roles in this game, IMHO:

1. Hardware manufacturer: creates awesome devices, period.

2. Carriers: provide awesome connectivity, period.

3. Microsoft: creates awesome operating system, applications and services

4. 3rd parties: creates awesome applications and services

5. Last, but not least, customer: gets access to awesome products and services paying as much as they are worth

Anything other than this is a messy scenario, with people doing things that are not their business, and at the end, that 5th guy will be the only one paying an awesome bill.

It's clear that carriers and manufacturers are messing the stage. Microsoft cannot be another contributor for this mess. Is must the one which will restablish the logical order of things. Otherwise maybe Google will do it...

I am paying for internet access on my phone, and I want the real client, not the web page access to Windows Live Messenger. AT&T includes the OCZ client which totally messes up the login experience in additon uses text messaging rather than the internet access. Please release the real Windows Live Messenger client!!!

Dunno what happenned to my WLM, but can't log in from ppc, and live contacts also disappeared from phone contact list. And... here I am with a useless offer from microsoft (live minus messenger).

Too much time already wasted on restoring Pocket pc WLM... and I'm starting to look at Fring as an alternative. Sorry guys.
