Just Released: Windows Live for Windows Mobile (Without Messenger)

Wait no more! The latest bits for Windows Live Client for your Windows Mobile are available for download. To get yours now, point your mobile browser to http://wl.windowsmobile.com

If you have Windows Live already installed on your device, you will need to uninstall it first. To do that, go to Settings->Remove Programs, select Windows Live entry from the list (if any) and click Remove. If you don’t find Windows Live on the list, then you are good to go.

With Windows Live client you will be able to:

Synchronize Live contacts with your contacts on the device
Synchronize your Live email (msn, hotmail, live)
View graphics, web links and contact photos in emails
Respond to emails with voice recordings
Upload photos to your Windows Live Spaces

Please Note that this package does not include Instant Messenger as part of it. If you have an older version on your phone with IM then installing this package will disable IM. To enable it again, you will need to go back to the older version by removing this package.

Interesting new statistics that shows IM is getting increasingly popular for mobile users, a story on cellular-news have all the details.

It seems to me as a logical evolution for text messaging on mobile phones so nothing comes as a surprise here. The trick is for carriers to change their business model to adapt to the new realities which I think they are doing now given the new all-in-one plans that Sprint and Verizon have started offering recently. It is a sign of changing times and very good thing for all of us, consumers!

to Windows Live for Windows Mobile team blog. You might be wondering what a team with this long name do exactly. Well, we are the guys and gals who build a very rich client for Windows Live services which includes, profile, contacts, mail, Messenger and Spaces. The client is not new and many many people are using it today as it comes pre-installed on many devices. This is different from the WAP interface though. If you are not sure if your phone has it, navigate to the programs screen and look for Windows Live icon or Messenger icon.

While our mobile client application is not new, this blog is. As a team we want to connect with our users and thought to just start a blog and share thoughts and information with you about many aspects of the product as well as other mobile applications that are very useful for mobile consumers.

In the next few weeks we will bring you lots of exciting posts that will help you make the best out of the live mobile client. In addition, we love to hear from you on what you think. Stay tuned.
