Not Work Related - How Some People Just Don't Get It!

Ok... This is my first (of two) "rants."

Yesterday, while I was driving home from picking up my Daughter, I stopped at a 4 way stop light.  My side was red, and the crossing traffic was green.  Ok so far?  Now, to my left is a lady on a bicycle... and she is going straight across... cool, but the guy to the right, turns left in front of her... cutting her off and forcing her to go around him.  Clearly his fault... she rides around him and says nothing.

Now... I turn right and start to follow her... this is a single lane road, but it has a parking lane... so there's a lot of room... but she rides in the middle of the driving lane... not a problem, because she has the right of way... So, I just patiently follow her at 7mph.  (BTW, there are no cars parked on the side of the road.)

Now, the oncoming traffic goes past and it's clear to pass, (the road has a single dashed yellow line... meaning I can pass) I put on my turn signal, and pass her... (I'm in my Mazda Miata, with the top down.)  She turns to me and yells, "I've got just as much rights as you do, A**hole!"  Wow... what did I do wrong?  Nothing!  So I turned to her and yelled back, "I know, Dumb A**!, That's why I didn't run you off the road!!!"  Still trying to figure out what she thinks I did wrong... just passing her?

Now... story two... This morning I was pulling in to my regular Saturday Morning breakfast establishment... called "Nick's" in Harrison, Oh.  As I was pulling into the parking lot, there was a car turning into a parking space right in front of the front door, cool... the space next to him is empty, so I start to pull in it.  Now, the fun stuff... the guy, stops half way in, and starts to back up because he didn't have the right angle... not a problem, I stop and wait for him.  He then puts it back in Drive and pulls into the lot, so I continue and pull all the way into the lot next to him.  I then hear this awful crunching sound... turns out, this guy was still pulling in and he ran right into the concrete curb stop in the parking space.  So I told Amanda to wait a second before she opens her door because he is going to back up and I didn't want her to hit his mirror or something.  Sure enough, he backs all the way out of his spot and is sitting sideways in the driving lane, between the two isles - blocking all the traffic... just sitting there.  So, we get out and started walking into the restaraunt.  As I'm walking in, he get's out to inspect the "damage" to his car and start's cussing at me for me causing him to hit the curb.  What?  How could I have made him hit the curb?  He said that I crowded him.  I explained to him that I was waiting on him to park before I pulled in... I pulled in perfectly centered into my stall and that I was in no way near him or caused him to hit the curb.  He just yelled some more cuss words and got in his car and drove off.  What an idiot!  He was blaming me on his distinct lack of driving skills.

So, we walked into the restaraunt and everybody in side asked me what he said (through what appeared to be a bunch of tears from laughing so hard)... so I told them the story, and they all said I was right, because they saw me wait for him.  Only after that, did they tell me that he'd been trying to park the car for 5 minutes before I drove up and that he had already hit the curb "several times before" I arrived.

Oh well I guess some people just don't get it.  BTW, breakfast was fantastic as usual - I had French Toast and Crispy Bacon (the American variety!)

Tomorrow, I am schedule to take a ride in a B-17 Bomber.  I'll be at the Mount Comfort Airport in Indianapolis... should be a blast.

Okay, as one of those people who have misjudged the height of the curb pulling up to a 7-11 on more than one occasion, I don't even know how he could think you caused it. Of course I have been fortunate enough to not have anyone watching me aside from my wife glance over and give me a dirty look from inside the car. Maybe some people just mistake being curteous as a chance to walk all over somebody.
