10pm Update - Flaps at 20 degrees, turning base

I think I can even see the runway.

While it was my fondest hope that we would come in well under the wire, we still have a bit to tidy up, and are likely to go close to midnight pst. The remaining list of issues is pretty small, however its important to us that we get some deep testing in with things at 100%. For what its worth, on the list of issues, the highest priority item is the fact that our work order to get facilities to leave the A/C on after 8pm apparently didn't go through. Having the full crew here at the pace folks are working is generating some serious heat.

Ok people .. let me shed a bit of light:

A project of this magnitude can't be done piecemeal .. cramming all the maintenance into 24 hours once or twice a year is a pretty damn huge undertaking and effort .. so stop your whining.

Boys .. keep the fires burning .. I've done my fair share of 24-hour maintenance/update projects, and I know how much tougher it gets the closer the wire gets. Keep your heads and keep doing great.

If any of the people complaining had the faintest idea of what goes on behind the scenes with maintenances like this they would understand testing is key before going back live. Do you want broken stuff that works half the time or a solid foundation to continue forward with? I've done VoIP maintenances and we've gone 12 - 24 hours because it's not just 1 company involved in that scenerio. And i'm sure that is the case here aswell as MS has alot of key players supporting services with there platform.

It's frustrating but like another person said. I'd rather they take some time to iron out the bugs to build a better service for everyone to enjoy whatever ur uses are for the 360 platform and possibly future platforms.

As a gamer, I am happy with the direction you're taking the Xbox. That's why I believe from my experience, LIVE remains a few steps ahead of the PSN.

I think the point of the update was to assure everyone that the most important issues have been cleared and that there are minor things still being worked on. It's called "reading between the lines" for those that don't see that.

@bigwhit44 - sorry that u had to endure that but it can also get rather hot working in datacenters when A/C's are busted or in offices when there is no A/C and a tonne of people. Try being productive in any environment if ur hot and unconfortable.. it sucks any way u look at it.

as someone who works in PR i would never have allowed the statement "for up to 24 hours" to be in the press release. You say its going to be 24 hours and if you come in under, hey everyone thinks you did great. I would laugh so hard if they came up at 23 hours and 30 minutes just to prove you people are ignorant... they said up to 24 hours because when your implementing upgrades to SQL servers and databases its not exactly the best thing to just update and guess it's going to work... If you get a lot of kinks it can take longer than expected... Sometimes things run smoothly and you don't end up with any serious problems and your online in half the time you thought you would be... I work in I/T and can't imagine how complex XBOX live must be. When you consider all it provides--voice, movies, game data--the list is staggering. And not just to a few people, either. But millions.

I don't how they get it to work in the first place. But to put in serious upgrades? Can you imagine the testing? How about just "throwing on" the "on" switch? Ever think of the surge in demand and what that might do to a system?
