Yes, but I dont have enough spare hard disk space on the 360 to utilise such a service. So unless the 100GB drive is on its way then its all pretty pointless....

Yes. Now Microsoft just needs to realize something. I watch CSI in HD for free on my TV, off the air. It's paid for by advertising. I don't intend to pay to watch TV shows on my 360. Let commercials pay for it, just like normal. I don't have an issue with paying for movie rentals though, if it's reasonable. I just want this to be a good thing, and not just another attempt to pull a few bucks for consumers. Xbox Live is becoming the place that companies use to nickel and dime you to death.

Users can access the So-Net's PTV portal via the Cross Media Bar (XMB). HD movie downloads require PS3 firmware 1.10, which can be downloaded free of charge.

I think it is interesting to see how peoples impressions of *cough* competing hardware is shifting now that it is arriving with real games and people are starting to play them.

It can be safely said that the Xbox team did their homework. A helluva lot of homework. You built a killer box, especially given the timeframe in which it was delivered. I think the Xbox team will actually get more credit for what they have done, now that the other HD system is in the wild.

So, in a way, I think the launch of other hardware should be a time of congratulations to the Xbox team. The 360 more than holds up against the competition. Keep up the forward thinking and development. I know more exciting things are going to come...

It's great that you allow Movies to be DLed and stored on the 360 but how many can you store on 14gigs in HiDef? The PS3 allows user to upgrade the standard HD to upgrade to any aftermarket drive. Currently you don't support movies to External HD from LIVE The only option one has is to hack the external HD drive and put a aftermarket 2.5 Drive in it and possibly get you banned from LIVE. Oh yea you can always use the memory cards :-P

Can you guys help? RE: The new 1080p fix.

My SAMSUNG 244T 24" LCD - Native Resolution 1920 x 1200 - I Select 1080p with the new "update" and IT STILL DISPLAYS A resolution of 1440 x 1050! This monitor MOST DEFINITELY SUPPORTS 1920 x 1080, I've set that resolution in Windows XP MYSELF! I am so disappointed! What's the deal?

I contacted Samsung and they told me this monitor supports 1920 x 1080 over VGA! :( :( :(

A bit of an early call this, don't you think?

The PS3 has a much bigger hard drive and HDCP support, which makes it far better equipped to provide this service.

Let's see what happens when companies start deciding that HD content (especially HD DVD) has to be HDCP protected. You're suddenly going to have a large number of angry HD DVD owners on your doorstep.

Finally, your boasting is typically US-centric. You haven't rolled out any such service in Europe for example and, who knows, maybe Sony will beat you to that market, which has a far stronger economy than the USA right now?

So I called support last night and AGAIN (third time now) they hadn't sent out the shipping box. I said, well, how about I send the system in myself? The guy said that'd be fine, but I'd have to call back in 15 minutes because they had to delete the previous reference # and start up a new one (yeah-nice lame policy).

I called back a couple of hours later and this time the agent told me there was a "hang-up" in deleting the previous reference #. He said I'd have to call back in 2-5 days to try again.

At this point I was a little pissed, so I spoke with a supervisor who said something like the reference repair # gets put in a queue, and it takes time to get it out (sure whatever lady). Now, I'm at the point where I can't get a box shipped to me because of trying to delete the old ref #, and I can't even get her to let me ship it to her, because now there's not a proper reference # associated with the serial # on my xbox and she wouldn't want it to get lost. She said that I'd have to call back in 5-7 business days. I asked her if there's any way that I could do this in such a way so that I don't have to call the support line again. She said, get this, that because it's my console, it's technically my responsibility. I couldn't even believe it. I could barely contain myself from freaking out.

Broken Console + Warranty = The consumer's responsibility. Remember that kiddies.

Unbelievable. So I finally got her to take down my cell # so someone could call me in the 5-7 business days that it takes to remove a goddamned reference # from my xbox's file. I don't expect a call whatsoever.

Whatever. I'm at the point where I'd rather just buy a whole new one since Xbox can't even figure out how to ship a box out to me after talking to 6 different people.

I'd toss my 360 off the roof if the PS3 didn't suck so bad. I'd just go buy one of those instead...
