He’s a Sherriff’s Department 911 dispatcher in Augusta Georgia who’s part of the 360 Junkies community and actually loves animals. Say ‘bang bang!’ to ikillbambis!
trixie360: What’s the story behind your gamertag?
ikillbambis: I think it's very important that I let everyone know - I do not hunt nor do I condone the killing of anything unless it's in self defense. Especially deer, they are my favorite creatures on earth and my name is strictly metaphorical. Bambi first appeared as Bambi: Eine Lebensgeschichte aus dem Walde (a life in the woods) written by Felix Salten in Austria. In the novel creatures fear "He" (human hunters) as gods of the forest as they choose who lives and dies. The deer become aware that there are things that kill "he" and discover that their is "another" that truly controls life's outcomes - I chose to be ikillbambis because as a gamer we have those moments where we are truly godlike and unstoppable, those times we are the rulers of the forest, we are Bambi killers.
trixie360: Where do you live?
ikillbambis: I reside in Augusta, Georgia. The peach state! Ironically, if you buy a peach here it most likely came from South Carolina.
trixie360: What do you do for a living?
ikillbambis: I work for the Richmond County Sheriffs Department as a 911 operator and dispatcher.
trixie360: What’s the worst or weirdest job you’ve ever had?
ikillbambis: The worst job I have ever had was working for a Lowes Home Improvement store. I got the job after getting laid off and really needed work, the problem was that it was minimum wage and mid-winter which meant that I spent all my time outside in the freezing cold weather.
trixie360: How long have you been on Xbox LIVE?
ikillbambis: I have been an Xbox LIVE user for 3 years (even though the counter says 2).
trixie360: Do you have an arch enemy on Xbox LIVE?
ikillbambis: My enemies are all the kids whose parents use the Xbox as a baby sitter. I hate listening to screaming adolescent anger/self loathing mixed with rap music or emo screaming...
trixie360: I have emo adolescents living with me; don’t need any more. What’s your Xbox set-up like? You rocking the big-screen TV? Dolby sound?
ikillbambis: My living room setup is a 42in 1080p flat screen with surround sound system. I also rock and fully endorse a pair of Tritton AX720s HD audio headset!
trixie360: What’s the best feature of Xbox LIVE?
ikillbambis: The party system. I love being able to keep all of my friends in my party and take them to whatever game I'm playing or just keep them in the party to chat while I get my frag on!
trixie360: What is your favorite multiplayer Xbox game?
ikillbambis: I am a huge FPS fan and can honestly say that I am a Halo fan boy. Halo 3 is my favorite online Xbox game and is the one game I can pop in and have fun no matter what happens! Plus, I haz th3 Reconz!
trixie360: What is your favorite single player Xbox game?
ikillbambis: Easily Bioshock. I remember the first time I harvested a little sister (sounds wrong I know) as a reward for beating down a Big Daddy with a wrench... Fun times.
trixie360: How about your favorite Xbox LIVE Arcade game?
ikillbambis: Trials HD - The team at RedLynx did an amazing job with this game and it has awesome replay ability! I have literally logged almost 100 hours just trying to improve my times.
trixie360: What do you think is the best game of all time?
ikillbambis: *Hums the Halo theme and strums an air guitar to the theme of Halo 2* Once again I'm going with the Halo franchise. Although, it is a close call between this and the Half-life series.
trixie360: What do you think is the best film of all time?
ikillbambis: The Boondock Saints - "We're sorta like 7-Eleven. We're not always doing business, but we're always open." Troy Duffy is a genious.
trixie360: I still haven’t seen that. What do you think is the best album of all time?
ikillbambis: Broken - Nine Inch Nails. I could literally go on for years talking about how great this album is and how much of a genius Trent Reznor is.
trixie360: Rock Band or Guitar Hero?
ikillbambis: Rock Band has better game play and Guitar Hero has better songs. If it really came down to it I would go with Rock Band.
trixie360: What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever heard on Xbox LIVE?
ikillbambis: Even though ODST is out and Recon can be won by completing Road to Recon, it is always funny to hear people say, "Do you work for Bungie? How did you get Recon? You suck1!!!!111 IMA 50 in Lone Wolves!!!!?!!!!"
trixie360: What is your greatest Xbox LIVE moment?
ikillbambis: Recon armor. Unlocked and on my Spartan.
trixie360: What’s your favorite TV show?
ikillbambis: Squidbillies - Redneck squids from Georgia?! I'm all on it! "Fights begin, finger prints are took, days is lost, bail is made, court dates are ignored, cycle is repeated."
trixie360: Who is your inner rock star?
ikillbambis: I'm not sure how to answer this... If I had to be in a rock band I'm pretty sure I would be in a metal band named "Death" - it's spooky, No?
trixie360: If they made a movie about your life, who should play you?
ikillbambis: Johnny Depp. It's a long shot but he is a great actor who could pull off my mediocrity while looking awesome.
trixie360: What’s your karaoke song?
ikillbambis: “Tom Sawyer” by Rush - I can kill this song and even hum the guitar solo's.
trixie360: Favorite cartoon character?
ikillbambis: GIR from Invader Zim. His crazy attitude and disregard for Zim's safety make for a good show.
trixie360: What super power would you like to have?
ikillbambis: Can I be a Super Saiyan? I don't like the whole powering up thing but think it would be awesome to fly and shoot energy blasts. Kamehameha!!
trixie360: If you could trade places with anyone for one day, who would it be?
ikillbambis: Bill Gates, I would sign an Xbox to myself and beg Bungie to give me a tour and a copy of every build for Reach.
trixie360: What celebrity would be the worst roommate?
ikillbambis: Carrot Top. He isn't funny and acts like a doucher since he bulked up.
trixie360: He is extremely ick. How many people are on your Friends List?
ikillbambis: Around 30, I keep it close with people I know and play with on a regular basis. There is always room for more though!
trixie360: Who's your favorite Superhero?
ikillbambis: Batman.
trixie360: Hot celeb you’d like to be stranded on a desert island with?
ikillbambis: Lady Gaga. For reasons too explicit to post on the interwebs.
trixie360: If you could be any video game character, who would it be?
ikillbambis: A Spartan from the Halo universe. It would suck to be taken away from everyone I know, but awesome to be able to dominate on the battle field.
trixie360: What’s the worst food you’ve ever eaten?
ikillbambis: There was a Chinese place that opened in Augusta called Imperial Garden, it was only open a week and then got shut down because there were frozen cats and dogs in the freezer. Take from that what you will.
trixie360: I take vomit from that. What’s the first video game you every played?
ikillbambis: I didn't really get into gaming until Super Mario came out. I was addicted and have since moved up with technology.
trixie360: What’s the last book you read?
ikillbambis: Bambi, a Live in the Woods.
trixie360: If you could go on tour with any band, which would it be?
ikillbambis: Nine Inch Nails - Always has good people on the lineup and awesome bands opening.
trixie360: What do you predict will be the 'next big thing' in gaming?
ikillbambis: I'm really liking what I have been seeing with the Project Natal and believe that if it is played right it can totally change the future of gaming.
trixie360: What do you think is the best thing about the Xbox 360?
ikillbambis: Xbox Live. I love online play and don't mind paying for this excellent service!
trixie360: What is the Xbox 360 Achievement that was hardest to get?
ikillbambis: More like a set of Achievements. The Road to Recon was awesome and painful at the same time, it was hard to find people willing to sit through three hours of Endure.
trixie360: What would you like to be doing in ten years?
ikillbambis: I would like to be living in Tennessee with my family still rocking the Xbox with my son! My family is awesome and my wife games so I don't see this as a problem. Can I give a couple shoutouts?
trixie360: Go for it.
ikillbambis: Shouts to the 360Junkies community, MDK, Seeson, Reighvin, Quagmire, Cleaner, Niki, calidrifter and anyone I forgot! Shout to Bungie for making great games and shouts to Sociablextina, Maxdyckhoff, ChristianH,Molten Slowa and last but not least the Whatis51 crew!!! and of course Trixie360 :)
This New Jersey gamer works in publishing, has a new puppy and once ate a live octopus. Say ‘ewww’ to Wondermonkey2K!
trixie360: What’s the story behind your gamertag?
Wondermonkey2k: When my (then girlfriend) wife and I were in college together, we used to write stories about superhero monkeys and kittens, and Wondermonkey was the star. He had two sidekicks, Tito and Boogers, both monkeys as well, but they were a bit on the slow side and often wore tinfoil hats. Also, this was 1999, so, as you know, if you wanted to be cutting edge, everything needed to have 2000 or 2K after it. When it was time to sign up for a gamertag, I assumed the role of Wondermonkey2K and never looked back.
trixie360: Where do you live?
Wondermonkey2k: Lambertville, NJ. It's right along the Delaware River.
trixie360: What do you do there along the river?
Wondermonkey2k: I'm an editor for an extremely large legal publishing company. I make authors sound better than they really do.
trixie360: What’s the worst or weirdest job you’ve ever had?
Wondermonkey2k: I used to be a reporter for a local newspaper when I was in college. I hated it. So much so in fact, that I used to tell outlandish lies in order to get out of covering boring town meetings. One time I told my boss that I had to leave because my wife broke her leg in a car accident. My boss called our house a few days later to talk to her and, ask her how she was feeling and, after I threw the phone at her and hid behind the couch, she covered for me. I have no idea why she's stayed married to me.
trixie360: It is mysterious. How long have you been on Xbox LIVE?
Wondermonkey2k: According to the new feature on my gamercard, 6 years.
trixie360: Do you have an arch enemy on Xbox LIVE?
Wondermonkey2k: I have two right now: KEEZY and Picklel7, and both for different reasons. KEEZY and I used to be neck and neck in gamerscore, but then he just started beating me to the ground and talking trash while he did it. Every day I'd sign on and there would be a brand new picture message of him kissing a photo of my wife. It was rough. We came to an understanding that if he stopped molesting 2D versions of my life partner, I'd stop calling his Mom and telling her that I loved her. We still have bitter feelings toward each other, but I try to only let it out while we game. Picklel7 and I met at Seattle at PAX 2008; he was living on the street making dirty balloon animals outside of Pike Place Market. Not like R-rated ones either, they were literally balloon animals covered in mud. We gave him some breakfast and a warm sponge bath, and he's been my arch enemy ever since. He destroys me in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 nightly.
trixie360: Is there someone on your friends list that you would love to meet in real life?
Wondermonkey2k: I've met so many people on my friends list between PAX and various meet-ups that there are very few left to meet. What I'd really like to do is delete some, add some new people, and then meet them. That still counts right?
trixie360: No. Not at all. What’s your Xbox set-up like?
Wondermonkey2k: 50" 1080P DLP with 5.1 sound. My puppy and wife hate it because the sound goes all the way up to "Samuel L. Jackson." I think it's great but I get text messages starting around midnight that just say "turn it down or I draft divorce papers."
trixie360: What’s the best feature of Xbox LIVE?
Wondermonkey2k: I love that community is integrated into everything. It's amazing being able to chat with people that aren't even playing the same game I am, and then coax them into jumping in our game. Also, when I realize that was a mistake, being able to mute them is great as well.
trixie360: What is your favorite multiplayer Xbox game?
Wondermonkey2k: While I'm loving Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 right now, I'd be remiss if I didn't say Halo 3. I've put more hours into that than anything else on the Xbox (or in my life). As soon as I played it at the Beta Launch party I fell in love. I don't see her as much anymore, but she knows I'll always be back.
trixie360: What is your favorite single player Xbox game?
Wondermonkey2k: Bioshock. Dead Space was a close second, but the design of Rapture and the personality of all its inhabitants hooked me (Get it? “Hooked me” That's a sea pun, I think).
trixie360: Yeeeeaaaaaah. What is your favorite Xbox LIVE Arcade game?
Wondermonkey2k: I'd have to go with Braid. I still go back to it when I just want to zone out and be happy while playing a game.
trixie360: What do you think is the best game of all time?
Wondermonkey2k: I assume whatever I say will just be changed to Zuma Deluxe, so I'm not even going to bother.
trixie360: Resistance is futile. What do you think is the best film of all time?
Wondermonkey2k: That's a tough one, but for my own "I bawled in the theater during that film on multiple occasions" reasons I think E.T. is perfect. The original though, not the one with the added special effects where Spielberg changes the guns to walkie-talkies.
trixie360: What do you think is the best album of all time?
Wondermonkey2k: Kind of Blue by Miles Davis.
trixie360: Rock Band or Guitar Hero?
Wondermonkey2k: Rock Band, but I truly suck at both.
trixie360: What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever heard on Xbox LIVE?
Wondermonkey2k: When people fall sleep while we're playing. It usually happens on Friday nights when a bunch of us get together and play until all hours of Saturday morning. Just the other night a newcomer fell asleep while playing Halo 3 and was talking while snoring. It was funny and terrifying at the same time.
trixie360: What is your greatest Xbox LIVE moment?
Wondermonkey2k: Playing Halo 3 co-op with 3 of my buddies on launch night straight through until the sun came up. My wife thinks it's my most embarrassing moment but she has 32 games of Scrabble going on her iPhone right now, so we all have our vices.
trixie360: What’s your favorite TV show?
Wondermonkey2k: Of all time, The Twilight Zone. Then the Battlestar Galactica reboot. For currently running shows, I'm thoroughly addicted to both Mad Men and Dexter.
trixie360: Who is your inner rock star?
Wondermonkey2k: David St. Hubbins.
trixie360: If they made a movie about your life, who should play you?
Wondermonkey2k: Don Draper from Mad Men. He's who I see every time I look in the mirror, mostly because I've taped pictures of him to all of the mirrors in our place.
trixie360: What’s your karaoke song?
Wondermonkey2k: “Principal's Office” by Young M.C.
trixie360: Favorite cartoon character?
Wondermonkey2k: Hands down Homer Simpson. His quotes have been unsurpassed in the cartoon world.
trixie360: What super power would you like to have?
Wondermonkey2k: I'd like to fly. I'm terrified of heights, and I don't think I'd use it very often, but it would make boarding a plane much easier for me. If it looks like we're going to crash, being able to walk out the door would really put my fears at rest.
trixie360: If you could trade places with anyone for one day, who would it be?
Wondermonkey2k: Sarah Palin. I'm dying to find out if all she really hears is a monkey smashing a cymbal 24 hours a day.
trixie360: What celebrity would be the worst roommate?
Wondermonkey2k: Kanye West. I don't think he'd let you finish anything, despite him telling you he would.
trixie360: How many people are on your Friends List?
Wondermonkey2k: 99. I like to always try to keep one slot free.
trixie360: Who's your favorite Superhero?
Wondermonkey2k: Batman. He lives in a Manor and I've always been jealous of that.
trixie360: Hot celeb you’d like to be stranded on a desert island with?
Wondermonkey2k: Audrey Tautou.
trixie360: If you could be any video game character, who would it be?
Wondermonkey2k: Master Chief. I think he's the perfect balance between human and genetically-altered human. I'd also love deploying bubble shields at the grocery store.
trixie360: What’s the worst food you’ve ever eaten?
Wondermonkey2k: Live baby octopus.
trixie360: Nasty. What’s the first video game you every played?
Wondermonkey2k: King's Quest, on a Tandy 1000 from Radio Shack. Every time I boot up the 360 I think about how far gaming has come.
trixie360: What’s the last book you read?
Wondermonkey2k: The Strain by Guillermo Del Toro. It's the first book in a Vampire trilogy he's writing, and was a great read.
trixie360: What’s the best place you’ve ever visited?
Wondermonkey2k: I fell in love with New Orleans, and I think she'll always be my geographic love.
trixie360: If you could go on tour with any band, which would it be?
Wondermonkey2k: The Roots. They're one of the hardest working bands in show business. Plus, when we weren't touring, I'd be able to hang out on the Jimmy Fallon set and hob-nob with the celebrities.
trixie360: What do you predict will be the 'next big thing' in gaming?
Wondermonkey2k: I don't think it will be a gadget or a gimmick, I think the next big thing will being able to make gaming even more of a mainstream pastime. Growing up in an age when “gamer” had such a negative connotation, and then seeing how it is now, I can only hope that it will be taken one step further where we no longer have one or two dedicated "gaming channels," but shows about games on major networks instead.
trixie360: What do you think is the best thing about the Xbox 360?
Wondermonkey2k: Easy: achievements. It seemed like such a small thing on launch, but I think it's one of the most fascinating things the 360 has going for it. There's something that makes my heart flutter every time I see the unlocked notification pop up.
trixie360: What is the Xbox 360 Achievement that was hardest to get?
Wondermonkey2k: Mile High Club in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. I broke a controller on that achievement. I think the real life achievement would have been easier.
trixie360: What would you like to be doing in ten years?
Wondermonkey2k: I'd like to have a sugar momma and be taking photographs as a job instead of just as a hobby. I've approached my wife for the job of sugar momma; she's on board, but she needs to establish herself in the lawyerin' world first before she can support me and my dumb dreams. Ten years seems good though I think. As a back-up, I've been trying to put our 4-month old puppy in ridiculous situations and then film them in hopes that I can win $10,000 on America's Funniest Home Videos. I don't think I'll win with 20 videos of him pooping on the floor though.
