&lt;p&gt;One thing situation I've recently encountered is where multiple XSD's used &amp;lt;xs:include&amp;gt; elements to re-use the same base common types.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I've done some research on the web, but haven't found a simple tool to &amp;quot;flatten&amp;quot; those XSD's and produce a valid consolidated/merged version.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It's really useful to be able to &amp;quot;include&amp;quot; base XSD's but there are many situations where some components don't handle these tags very well or don't support them at all (ex: SQL XML, &lt;a rel="nofollow" target="_new" href="http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms190756.aspx"&gt;http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms190756.aspx&lt;/a&gt;).&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It would be cool if you could add a &amp;quot;Flatten XSD&amp;quot; option to the context menu available on XSD files.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Maybe I'll give it a try and build a small add-in to do this ... hmmm, interesting... good night and thanks for listening.&lt;/p&gt;
