The XPS Essentials Pack has been updated to support Windows XP Service Pack 3

This update fixes a problem with the installer where it failed to recognize a newer version of Windows Imaging Component (WIC) that is included in Windows XP SP3. Also included is an update to the latest version of the XPS Print Path, as well as including a number of improvements to the print path, this update corrects an issue with the components previous included in the essentials pack that prevented component servicing.

To download the installer see http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/xps/viewxps.mspx.

The download link for the XPS EP links to an MSI that was digitally signed in July 2007. I am going to assume that isn't the fixed installer.

OMG, Joel You are right, this file wasn't updated to fixed version. It still gives errors during installation on WinXP SP3 and it couldn't be installed...

XPS Guys, what is going on? :|

Yeah, it's the old version still, methinks.

How do we download the most up-to-date version?

Can ya'll upload the newest version?  I just downloaded from www.microsoft.com/whdc/xps/viewxps.mspx, and the English version is still the old version.  Other languages have the newer version, but the English version is still old.  I hope ya'll can update it to the newest one soon!  I could really use this software right now.

Not only english language isn't updated. Polish also isn't. Perhaps other languages, too. Did someone fix it and when? :)

I checked the Spanish version.  The digital signature showed it was completed in late October.  However, the digital signature for the English version is from June, or something like that.

We are having issues determing the old and new versions of this product.  Opening the MSI with Orca, the ProductVersion is listed as 1.0.6000 in both the 2008 and 2007 dated (and different size) MSI's.  How to identify?

Thanks.

Well, the install completed (using Windows XP sp3)after registering to override previous versions of xps, but the doc writer fails to generate .xps files.  I tried to print a word document and an internet explorer 7 screen, but neither saved (to the desktop or to my documents).  The file just seems to disappear.  When I search for it with windows search 4.0 it shows up, but in properties I get a message saying The name C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Test.xps specified in the Target box is not valid.  Make sure the path and file name are correct.  What can be done to fix this?
