  • LimitLogin - Log and limit concurrent user logons

Yesterday we announced the availability of LimitLogin v1.0, an application that adds the ability to limit concurrent interactive user logons in an Active Directory domain, written by yours truly, with the help of my partner Ofer Bar. This tool can also keep track of all logins information in Active Directory domains (without necessarily enforcing logons quotas).

The challenge of limiting concurrent logons in a distributed environment is huge, and although LimitLogin is not a "bullet proof" solution to all the aspects of this challenge, many customers might still find this tool helpful, as this capability has been highly requested by different customers (banks, ISPs, libraries etc) in numerous RFPs throughout the years etc.

    LimitLogin capabilities include:

    • Limiting the number of logins per user from any machine in the domain, including Terminal Server sessions.
    • Displaying the logins information of any user in the domain according to a specific criterion (e.g. all the logged-on sessions to a specific client machine or Domain Controller, or all the machines a certain user is currently logged on to).
    • Easy management and configuration by integrating to the Active Directory MMC snap-ins.
    • Ability to delete and log off user session remotely straight from the Active Directory Users and Computers MMC snap-in.
    • Generating Login information reports in CSV (Excel) and XML formats.

Please keep in mind that this tool is Not Supported (similar to a resource kit or support tool).

    The download location is http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/d/0/fd05def7-68a1-4f71-8546-25c359cc0842/limitlogin.exe

Make sure you start by reading the LimitLogin.chm help file for step-by-step setup instructions, FAQ and more.

I'd be happy to hear your feedback about the tool.

  • A quick note from 'Flooding the Balkans' tour

We're back from Greece after an amazing experience with the local community. The show went great, but above all the people, food and hospitality were simply remarkable. Next on this tour would be Turkey and Bulgaria. Some photos (and feedbacks) from the concert can be found at http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=181564

    Yamas, Thessaloniki!

  • 13 years double show for Orphaned Land

As we celebrated the 13th anniversary to Orphaned Land, we put up a special show, both acoustic and electric, in a 2.5 hours musical journey held in the old fort of Shuni, amazing location with great atmosphere. You can see some pictures up on http://www.distortedband.com/pic/shuni.
  • Back from 'Rock The Nations' Open Air Festival

During July 2-4th my band “Orphaned Land“ performed in the 'Rock The Nations' open air festival in Istanbul, side by side along with other rock/metal bands from Germany, UK, Finland, Syria and more. We got amazingly good feedbacks on our show and the local people were so warm and loving, I simply adore the turkish people.

Thousands of rockers from all around the world, free beer for VIPs, music all day... what more could I ask for? well, Internet access would have been great! :-)

So I had to loose my laptop for few days but now I'm back into the virtual world after a great taste of the stage. until the next time... May the Source be with you!

  • Me in a nutshell...

I have my one foot in the IT/Dev world and the other in Business. I have a personal column on Windows IT-related topics up on the TechNet website, I lecture at TechEd events, TechNet seminars and more, and have been involved in writing Microsoft Official Curriculum courses for Windows 2000 and Windows Server 2003.

Although I've been working for Microsoft since 1999, prior to that I did just about any software-related position, including Network engineering, consulting, Technical Manager in a software company developing Collaboration applications, CIO of a highly heterogeneous environment etc.

In my spare time I develop some of the resource kit tools for Active Directory, and play the guitar in a world/universal rock-metal band named "Orphaned Land".
