I very clearly remember when Michael Brecker started his concert by faking the sound of Miles Davis with an “electronic/synthesizer saxophone”, myriad of wires hanging everywhere. I was sitting at less than 2 meters in front of him, on the stage, in the Louvain la Neuve auditorium. My friend Alex thinks it was in 1987.

Steps Ahead’s Modern Times album must be one of the first “jazz” albums I bought, even before “Friday Night in San Francisco”. When Phillipe Baron played Safari on the radio, I knew I had to have that vinyl record!

When I brought it at home, I think I’ve heard that tune a dozen times.

Although it’s late notice, I just realized he past away a year ago. I think he did contribute (like John McLaughlin) in my discovery of Jazz. Thanks a lot Mike.

I've installed SPB Mobile Shell, Point UI and lately TouchPal on my AT&T Tilt... I'm hungry for any mechanism to make the use of my mobile phone easier/safer...

I decided to stick with SPB Mobile Shell for now.

This is the first I'm listening to one in my life: A man without a country from Kurt Vonnegut.

I figured out that while I'm putting order in my apartment, I might as well expand a bit my mind by listening to a recorded book.

This is such an entertaining book. If you can, you should give it a try while jogging... ;-)

Just spent two wonderful hours watching that movie. I'm sure I missed a lot of the culture specific humour and having some of the same tunes as Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain movie was a small mistake but still, it was very nice.

I don't listen enough to KEXP!

Today around 1:30, I listened to a very nice tune while driving but I don't manage to get the title nor the interpreter at the end of it.

Back home, I jump on the KEXP site , go to their amazing playlist section and find it: Azougue by DJ Dolores (aka Helder Aragao). That Isaar female singer is something.

Bear Cub (Cachorro)

It makes a while I did not watch an interesting movie. I saw Vendetta and did enjoy most of it but I would not recommend it to a friend.

Then on Saturday, I picked Bear Cub from the foreign movies section at the KCLS and watched it on Sunday evening: very good and original movie.

Death and old calculators/computers...

Yesterday evening, for some reasons, I was thinking about death and how I started to know about the computing world... I thought "Tomorrow, I'll see if I can find pictures of those things I've been using since I was 13 year old".

Apple II
Learned basic. Hangman must have been the first "useful' program I wrote.
Commodore machines (PET and CBM): I wrote a ping-pong game in 6502.
TI-33 and TI-57: used at high school.
Sharp PC-1211: high school and cheating at the University entrance exam. Mathematics and science were the perfect domains to put my Basic and assembly knowledge at good use. If you see what I mean...
Sharp PC-1500A and the Sharp PC-1600 (4 lines of text!!!)
IBM PC-XT
...

I'm surprised to find that many sites relating to old calculator and computers.
