    I'm Back At Last

Well, after 11 weeks away from the office, I find myself back at work today. My surgery went well, as has my recovery, so today I find myself back at my home away from home.

While I was in recovery, I watched heaps of dvds, read a few good books, perused many rss feeds, watched way too much daytime television, followed the ups and downs of my footy team, enjoyed the music of Eurovison, saw a few blockbuster movies, and got time to go on adventures with my wife and kids.

Now, back to the reality of the job, and all the stuff we need to do for the upcoming months - we have medcteched, pdc and a number of great products to launch.

    Did you miss me??

A box full of Tablet PC Guys

I came back to my office after being away for a week, and found a few boxes of stuff waiting for me.

I opened one of the boxes and found it full of TabletPC Guys

Thanks to Lora and the Tablet PC team.

Now I need to come up with a criteria to give these little fellows away. Any suggestions???

    I-Mate K-Jam AKU2 Update : Done!

For the past week, I've been reading about the I-Mate K-Jam AKU2 update, and I have been itching to apply the update to *MY* little K-Jam.

Today, I had a meeting cancel on me, so I scored some bonus time, in which to make it so!

I grabbed the the new ROM which includes AKU2 with Direct Push E-mail from Club i-mate and ran the update.

I am now running the updated K-Jam and it feels so much better. It's snappier.  The Direct Push E-mail is really cool too.

Time now to go re-install some of my favorite apps - EgressPocket Sudoku, King Sol and Voice Command

Who Are the Aussie A-List Bloggers?

If you were to organise a meetup of the A-list bloggers in Australia, who would you invite? And they can't be journalists who blog. That's a constraint.

I was posed this challenge last week. To be honest, I struggled to come up with a decent list.

I'll share the list once it's finalised, but I'll let you into a little secret - most of the folks are on my blogroll.

    14 years at Microsoft

My first post for a very long time, as I have been recovering from surgery.

Today is the anniversary of when I started my career at Microsoft - 14 years!

As I said last year, I've been really lucky, as I have done lots of different things, been exposed to different parts of the business, and seen it from different parts of the world. I have been very fortunate to work with some amazing people within Microsoft, as well as some outstanding organisations & people outside of Microsoft.

    Quicky chronology:

May 1991 Sep 1993 Microsoft Canberra, working as a Systems Engineer
Sep 1993 Aug 1994 Microsoft Corp, @ Executive Briefing Center
Aug 1994 Oct 1995 Microsoft Corp, in the Advanced Technology Group, working on Interactive TV
Nov 1995 May 1997 Microsoft Australia, MSN Technical Director
Jun 1997 Jun 1999 ninemsn CTO
Jun 1999 May 2001 Microsoft Region, Digital Media dude
May 2001 now Microsoft Australia, Developer & Platform Evangelism

    surgery over

I had my surgery on Wednesday 13 of April.

Moira took my XDAII away from me while I was under sedation and just returned it to me today.

So, how am I feeling ? Buggerred. I'm hooked up to an iv drip at one end and a cathatar at the other.

Surgery went well. I've been up for a walk each day since Thursday. I'm doing my deep breathing exercises, and I'm back on my clear liquid diet. There's even some action down below, which is a good sign.

From what I can tell, I wil be in hospital until Friday, which is what was expected.

    so far so good
Sent from my XDAII with pocket diarist.
